CEA Creates Industry Job Center

April 10, 2009 By Stratton O'Neill

One of the negative effects of widespread layoffs for any industry is the loss of experience and knowledge to other industries, as people scurry to find new work. One of the problems for the CE business is that there were few, if any, specific job outlets targeted to this market alone. Recognizing this fact, the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) launched the CE Industry Career Center, a job listing and resume site targeted specifically to the consumer electronics field.

The site is divided into two sections, one for employers and one for job seekers. For a fee, employers can post listings and receive automatic notifications when a new job resume appears. A company profile can also be set up to help advertise the business (helpful in cases where an organization may not be that well known).

Meanwhile, job seekers can use the site for free, posting profiles and resumes, and surfing jobs. Tailored searches can be created to target specific careers (e.g. an installer can weed out corporate sales or marketing jobs) and users get e-mail notifications when a job listing that matches their criteria is posted.
