We’re big fans of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. The last episode featured Delores Powell, who bought her home in 2002 and was unaware that the house was on a city demolition list. She spent a lot of time renovating it, but the home was still not fit to live in. The home needed major renovation. Extreme Makeover allowed Control4 and Panasonic to step in and lace Delores and her family with a new home, complete with automation, security and energy management.

This was also America’s chance to witness some of the things that Control4 and Panasonic have to offer.

Control4, in cooperation with Panasonic, provided the overall home control, energy management and entertainment solution for this project. 
Four Panasonic model BB-HCM735 outdoor splash-resistant IP network cameras were attached to the exterior of the home. LED lights were also installed outside for better security, and preprogrammed commands were made to interrupt entertainment when a doorbell rings, or if there is unusual movement outside.

Control4 installed touch panels with Peak Software to help Delores’ family monitor energy usage though real-time graphs on every user interface. The home was also outfitted with a solar panel system to save money on energy costs.
